V8 and water in the tank problem by Keith  (June 10th, 2008)
This is a link to my recent events blog about mis-firing on cornering which turned out to be a water in the fuel tank problem.
Water in the Tank

I think water doesn't go down the jets very well so the problem never goes away unless cleaned out. Regular use also helps.

Wife: "There's trouble with the car. It has water in the carburetor."
Husband: "Water in the carburetor? That's ridiculous."
Wife: "I tell you the car has water in the carburetor."
Husband: "You don't even know what a carburetor is. Where's the car?"
Wife: "In the swimming pool."
Still here by Keith  (December 1st, 2007)
We (Keith and Som) are still here despite not much activity over the year. The NG looks a little bit down with much of our effort going on other projects. Also the demise of the national rally this year and others being a bit far meant that we didn't do that much in the NG.
We had a few local meetings, plus the excellent trip to the coachworks.
We are looking forward to using the NG more next year (in between respraying the Morris).

Happy Christmas and New Year
Visit to Coachworks near Lyminington by Keith  (December 1st, 2007)
This was a very interesting visit to a coachworks that did full restorations mainly to previously hand built vintage and classic cars. Being hand built these are some of the most expensive restorations you can imagine. One figure mentioned was £750,000.
The cars ranged from Bentley to Maserati, racing Ferrari and the like. Plus some specials. Most were aluminium bodies and the work being done was incredibly good.
This type of restoration is at the oposite end of the scale to my lowly little old Morris.

Many thanks to Michael for organising this outing.

(Although I took some pictures it was on the condition I didn't publish them)
NG Exbury Gardens Visit - 7 Oct 06 by Keith  (June 1st, 2007)
The NG visit to Exbury was very good. Nice run through the forest and a good turnout makes organising it really worthwhile. Thanks for supporting it.
(bit delayed in posting the pics but at least they are here )
Meetings for 2007 by Keith  (April 12th, 2007)
The meeting date of the first sunday of the month will probably be disrupted a little as there a number of other event clashes.

Meetings as follows:
13 May as Stoneleigh is 5-6 May.
3 June.
8 July as NG National Rally is 1 July (although I am also tempted to go to the Morris Minor rally so watch this space).
5 August.
2 September.

Meetings will take place at The Swan pub just west of Lyndhurst at 12.00. This has been restored after a fire (not yet checked it out but will do before the next meeting).

Events:
I am hoping to organise at least 1 event. Date TBD but expected to be late summer.

Hope to see you at the meetings.

Possible future events by Keith  (August 14th, 2006)
Me and Som have started organising a few events (in addition to the monthly meet). These will tend to get organised as and when we feel like it, with our enthusiasm proportional to attendence
But like any organisers thinking of something is the difficult bit so here is a list of ideas for future events. Please feel free to add comments and suggest other event ideas. I will add them to the list.

The list!

Hurst Castle visit - not sure about parking there - alternative could be Calshot castle (small castle).
Cider trip to sample the New Forest Cider (with drive through the Forest).
PicNic - Just go out for a drive and have a picnic. Maybe BBQ in one of the designated areas.
Camping - would more people visit if camping was suggested?

 Kieth,

To get to Hurst I think you need to walk from Key Haven. However I think a Picnic would be a good idea and would be prepared to help organise if required. Anderton Enclosure could be godd as it is bookable and has Toilets. Maybe followed by a simple treausre hunt and finishing at a pub, say High Corner or the Lamb at Nomansland the list could be endless
October Monthly Meeting (1st October) by Keith  (August 8th, 2006)
As the Oak Pub is such a nice pub I thought we'd go there again. Meet at 12 noon as usual. Look forward to seeing you all again.
I was hoping to go to the Brooklands breakfast event but my MR2 has broken a clutch pipe so I can't spare any time, however we will go to the Oak for a drink at 12, so see you there.

NG National Rally 2006 by Keith  (June 10th, 2006)
This years rally was at Stratford-upon-Avon. Extremely sunny and hot weekend. The campsite field, part of Riverside Caravan Park, was very nice with good facilities, situated next to the river. We, and most NGers, got the river taxi into Stratford for a bit of site seeing. Stratford is a lovely town with loads of old buildings.
The Rally was very relaxed with BBQ's provided for burn ups plus tea and cakes. We had a great time and enjoyed ourselves not just seeing Stratford but more importantly catching up with our friends.
